A statue of land donor Laxman Bahadur Devkota has been erected at the bus park in Thapagaun, Sharada Municipality-3. The statue was built with the investment of Devkota's children in memory of their father.
In 2066 BS, Mrs. Devi Devkota donated more than two ropanis of land for the construction of a bus park in the name of Laxman Devkota. Locals Suresh Maharjan, Radha Sharma, and Arjun Oli also donated land for the bus park, which was built on an area of five ropanis.
The statue built in the bus park was unveiled by former MP Anisha Nepali on the occasion of Saraswati Puja on Friday. MP Nepali also helped in the construction of Devkota's statue.
Nearly 20 million rupees have been spent on the construction of the bus park. Although the bus park has been built, it has not been managed yet. As transport entrepreneurs neglect to park vehicles in the bus park, citing various reasons, the bus park, which has a capacity of more than 30 vehicles, has become unused.
Local Indra Kumar Sharma said that since there was no bus park in the district headquarters, Khalanga, and because of the temporary parking of vehicles at Bhimsen, everyone was having problems, a bus park was built in Thapagaun, Sharada Municipality-3 with the investment of the Road Division Office, Dang, and the then District Development Committee, Salyan, after the locals donated land.
He informed that the concerned bodies have taken initiatives to make the unused bus park systematic.
