Mangal Bahadur Shahi has been elected as the leader of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) parliamentary party.
The parliamentary party meeting held on Saturday elected Shahi, elected from Mugu 1 (2), as the party leader.

Shahi was elected as the leader of the Provincial Assembly Parliamentary Party after a majority of members supported him based on voice votes in the parliamentary party meeting held on Saturday.
There are 14 NCP MPs in the 40-member Karnali Provincial Assembly. Sharma, who was elected as a provincial assembly member from a former Maoist, resigned as the parliamentary party leader after joining the Progressive Democratic Party. He had also become the Chief Minister before that. The NCP has not taken any action against Sharma.
