Police have arrested 13 defendants who were absconding in connection with the execution of verdicts in various cases.
A team of security personnel deployed from the district has arrested 13 absconding defendants in a period of one month while they were hiding in various places in Sharda Municipality, Bangad Kupinde Municipality, Darma, Chhatreshwari, and Kalimati Rural Municipality.
According to Police Inspector Purna Bahadur KC, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Salyan, those arrested include Meghraj Kunwar, 32, of Sharda Municipality-10, Chakra Bahadur Khadka, 38, of Darma Rural Municipality-1, Bimala Khadka, 39, Mahesh Khadka, 30, of Kalimati, Om Bahadur Budha, 36, of Kalimati, Tikaram Bhandari, 39, of Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality-6, Anjana Shah of Darma Rural Municipality-4, Dhane Nakal of Bangad Kupinde Municipality-2, Kamala Oli of Sharda Municipality-13, and others.
Information Officer Pranu Bahadur KC said that those arrested have been absconding for one to 11 years after the District Court of Salyan sentenced them to imprisonment and fines in cases including vehicular homicide, banking offenses, polygamy, fake certificates, and incest. According to him, all those arrested have been sent to prison. He said that some have returned home after serving their sentences and paying fines, while others are serving their sentences.
