Two excavator operators and a co-driver died on the spot when a jeep bearing Bhe 1 Ja 2898 overturned while climbing uphill on the Seri Pantadi road at 6 pm on Friday, said Kalikot Police Chief DSP Him Bahadur Khatri. According to him, the deceased have been identified as Shankar Kathayat, 28, of Dailekh Aathbis Municipality, Tekendra Shahi of Achham, and co-driver Nawaraj Shahi of Shubhakalika-2, Kalikot. All three of them were involved in digging the Seri Pantadi road.
'We have retrieved all three bodies from the cliff and brought them to the road,' DSP Khatri said, 'Preparations are being made to call relatives for postmortem and take them to the district headquarters. The vehicle is lying in pieces on the banks of the Tila river 500 meters down the road. The jeep driver has been contacted by the police, but is yet to be questioned,' DSP Khatri said.
After receiving news of the accident, a team including Pradya District Officer Gorkan Raj Suyal, DSP Khatri, District Police, and Armed Police Force reached the spot from the district headquarters Manma.
