Karnali Province Water Resources and Energy Development Minister Bijaya Budha has inspected the Bheri Pumping Project. Minister Budha conducted an on-site inspection of the project on Wednesday.
Minister Budha monitored the progress of the project, which was launched keeping in mind the population growth expected in Birendranagar by 2050. During the monitoring, she said that she was informed that the physical progress of the project was 14 percent.
Praising the rapid progress of the project, Minister Budha emphasized the need to continue the work at the same pace. She also instructed the construction company to complete the project on time.
The project is being funded by 80 percent of the Ministry of Drinking Water under the federal government, 14 percent by the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy Development of Karnali Province, and 7 percent by the Birendranagar Municipality.
The construction of the project is being carried out by the Chinese company Xinjiang Times International Economy and Technical Cooperation.

Work is being done in the first phase of the project at a cost of 3.5 billion 8.15 million rupees. The construction of the main reserve tank is underway at Amritdanda in Birendranagar Municipality-11, about seven kilometers from the Bheri River.
The Bheri Pumping Project is targeted to be completed by 2027. Water from the Bheri River will be brought to the capital Birendranagar through pumping technology.
The monitoring was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Yogendra Mishra, and representatives of the concerned bodies.
Earlier, Karnali Chief Minister Yamalal Kandel and Birendranagar Municipality Mayor Mohan Maya Dhakal had jointly monitored the project. During that meeting, Kandel and Mayor Dhakal expressed happiness that the project was progressing at a rapid pace as per the target. They said that it should be continued.
