Monitoring of polling stations designated in Jumla for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21 has been intensified.

The geographical location and security challenges of the polling stations have been studied. The polling stations are currently being monitored under the leadership of Chief District Officer Deepak Poudel, who is also the coordinator of the District Security Committee.

The team includes SP Nilakamal Acharya of the Armed Police Force, DSP Rabin Babu Regmi, Chief of District Police Jumla, and Narayani Chaulagain, Acting Chief of Election Office Jumla. The Election Office has stated that all polling stations in the eight local levels of the district will be monitored.

Priority has been given to polling stations that are geographically remote and have security challenges. The election atmosphere is also increasing in the villages as the monitoring of polling stations has started in earnest.

Currently, there are 85 polling stations in Jumla, including 2 temporary ones. According to the Election Office, 110 polling stations have been designated. The team will categorize the polling stations and formulate a security plan. According to DSP Regmi, 52 polling stations in the district are highly sensitive. 18 polling stations are sensitive and 15 polling stations are normal.

There are 71,739 voters in Jumla. Of which 34,280 are women and 37,459 are men. It is expected that fewer votes will be cast as most people have gone to the mountains and Terai to escape the cold in winter and for business and employment.

It is likely that Congress, UML, Nepali Communist Party, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), RPP, CPN-Maoist and NEMKIPA will be candidates in Jumla.

Jumla voters have not yet elected MPs. This time, RPP's Gyanendra Shahi and CPN's Naresh Bhandari are seeking to become MPs again.

The Election Commission has appointed 77 district judges as Chief Election Officers in consultation with the Judicial Council as per Section 5 of the House of Representatives Election Act, 2074, effective from Poush 25. Accordingly, in consultation with the Judicial Service Commission, 88 gazetted Class II officers of the Nepal Judicial Service have been appointed as election officers.
