The fare has been fixed so that ambulances can charge Rs 20,000 from Jumla to Surkhet and Rs 25,000 from Jumla to Nepalgunj. The District Ambulance Committee, Jumla, formed in accordance with the Ambulance Operation Directive-2082 recently issued by the Ministry of Health and Population, has brought uniformity by fixing the fares of ambulances. ‘There were complaints that patients were suffering because the fares of the ambulances operated by the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital and the local levels were different,’ said Acting Chief Sharma. ‘The fares have been fixed to ensure that no patient suffers and to prevent arbitrary use of ambulances.’
The Public Health Service Office, Jumla, has stated that there are 18 ambulances, including 17 ambulances operated by the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences and eight local levels in the district, and one ambulance operated by the Buddhist Service Society. There are three ambulances at the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital. There is one in Guthichaur, two in Patarasi and one in Tatopani Rural Municipality.
There are one ambulance in Tila Rural Municipality, two in Sinja, two in Kanakasundari and four in Hima Rural Municipality. One ambulance and one hearse are in operation in Chandannath Municipality.
