A woman has died in a tiger attack in Salyan. Dhansari Rawat, 42, of Parseni Ghar, Kalimati Rural Municipality-7, Salyan, which borders Banke National Park, died in a tiger attack while she was going to cut firewood.

Rawat had gone to cut firewood in the Hariyali community forest near her home at 8 am on Friday. Locals reported that the tiger attacked her and dragged her towards the forest at around 3:30 pm.

Immediately after the incident, a team of police and army personnel went to search for her and found her body in a bush 500 meters away from her home, said DSP Hem Bahadur KC of the Salyan District Police. The body was found with one leg bitten by a tiger, he said.

Tigers are seen in this forest almost every day as it is close to Banke National Park. Ward Chairman of Kalimati-7, Mitralal Rijal, said that it is already difficult for her to walk alone due to the fear of tigers.
