In accordance with the central equation, the Congress and UML have formed an alliance in Karnali as well. The NCP has nominated Anju Mahatara Shahi of Dolpa and Buddhi Prasad Sharma of Rukum West as its candidates.

Shahi was defeated in the 2079 Provincial Assembly elections from Jumla 1(1). He was defeated by independent candidate Devendra Bahadur Shahi. Congress Provincial President Shahi was defeated despite having the support of the Maoists and the Unified Socialists.
