A team from Shikhar Insurance Company has returned after visiting the farmers' gardens in Jumla and submitting the prepared report to the District Administration Office.
As per the farmers' demand, a five-member team led by Udit Prasad Kafle, the general manager of the insurance company, had reached Jumla.
The team had held discussions with the people's representatives of the agitating Tatopani, Kanakasundari and Patarasi rural municipalities, the affected farmers and the local people's representatives several times. They also conducted on-site monitoring and submitted the report to the District Administration Office, Jumla.
A meeting chaired by Chief District Officer Deepak Poudel decided to send the report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and the central office of Shikhar Insurance in Thapathali.
The meeting also decided to request the Jumla branch of Shikhar Insurance to take the initiative to provide the company with the subsidy amount from the government for the outstanding damage claim amount paid by insurance in the fiscal year 2080/081.
After the farmers started a agitation in the district, saying that they had not received the insurance claim amount, the District Administration, Jumla, had written a letter to the insurance company on Poush 2 asking it to send a representative for discussions. The apple insurance discussion and inspection report has been signed by five people from the insurance company.
The report mentions that there is a difference in the meteorological measurement center according to the distance for measuring rainfall, that there is a difference in the insurance amount even though there is a border of two municipalities on the same hill and the apple trees are in the same place, that there is a difference in the claims even in the lakes and valleys of the same hill, that drought and hail are assessed in the orchards in the same place, and that the machines installed in the villages provide the farmers with seasonal details as needed.
The report mentions that the farmers claim that the data of the center is measured only from time to time but that there are errors in the data because it is not digital. It has been pointed out that consultation is also needed to revise the system to make the geography and border delineation of the insurance article made in international practice just.
Tatopani-4 Chairman Amar Bahadur Rokaya, company representatives and Adi Prasad Neupane participated in the inspection on behalf of the insured. The report also covers the protests initiated by farmers, discussions held in the district several times, and the arrangements made by the insurance company.
Ward Chairman Rokaya of Tatopani-4 said that even after submitting the on-site report to the district administration, the lock on the insurance company's office could not be opened. He said, "The insurance team has returned after submitting the study report. But they are demanding that the lock not be opened until the insured farmers are assured of receiving the amount they have claimed."
