A 1-kilometer JESSIC pedestrian path has been constructed to connect Khadachakra-1, Chautha Bhir, to Tila Karnali Multiple Campus in Ward 3, Tadi.

Of the 3.5-kilometer walkway that needed to be built from Chautha to Tadi Campus, only 1 kilometer was built this year due to lack of budget.

The construction committee chairman Khagendra Pandey said that the work on the walkway, which was started with the laying of the foundation stone on November 21, was completed within February, even though the agreement was made to complete the walkway in Falgun. He said that although the work of widening the walkway and laying stones and making the slope was completed according to the estimate, the entire walkway could not be built due to lack of budget.

Ward chairman Dadhiram Pandey said that Khadachakra Municipality-3 has requested a plan for next year to connect the Tila Karnali Campus and the third Tadi Tower vertically from Sakala Dhunga.

The work on the walkway connecting the tourist spot Pujamalika via Tila Karnali Multiple Campus has been named the JCIS Tourism Walk. The foundation stone of the path was laid by Congress leader Bhupendra Jung Shahi on November 21.

A footpath with railings was constructed as students were at risk of falling while walking up the Chautha Bhir, a short distance from Kalikot's headquarters Manma Bazaar. The budget allocated through the Karnali Province Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment was spent through the Division Forest Office, Kalikot.

Rudra Prasad Sapkota, head of Tila Karnali Multiple Campus, said that he was happy that the sloping footpath with railings was constructed as students had to walk up the cliff from Manma, the headquarters of Kalikot. 'After 20 years of operation of the campus, it is finally possible to walk on a safe path,' he said. 'After the construction of a safe path, it has become easier to travel to and from the campus.' He said that while returning from the campus, two students had broken their legs and 9/10 students had their legs crushed.

There are more than 500 students in the campus, which offers education and management courses from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. Hikmat Singh, the president of the campus's self-government union, said that a 3.5-kilometer short walkway was built because it takes more time to walk along the winding road.

Out of the 3.5-kilometer walkway from Manma Bazaar to the campus, the Division Forest Office has borne the cost of 1.455 million rupees this year. 1 kilometer of the path from Baddi Kotedad (Odar) to the campus remains to be built, and 1 kilometer of the path from Sakala Dhunga to Tadi Tower remains to be built.

As the work as per the agreement with the construction committee has been completed, the remaining work will be put on a phased plan next year, said Dharmaraj Upadhyay, head of the Division Forest Office. According to him, the work of laying stone slabs on the walkway to the campus, slope, machinery wall and 100 meters of steel railing on the side of the cliff is in the final stage.
