Leaders and activists of old political parties have expressed dissatisfaction over the neglect of the Himalayan district of Dolpa by political parties.

Although candidates from most districts of the country were included in the closed list under the proportional electoral system, none of the candidates recommended by Dolpa could be included.

The Nepali Communist Party had recommended 6 people from Dolpa for proportional representation.
The names of Hans Bahadur Shahi from backward areas, Kali Chalaune and Bhima KC Banjara from women, Kali Budha, Nainsingh BK from Dalits and Gyalpo Thapa Bhote from Janajati were recommended. However, they were not included in any closed list.

NCP District Coordinator Dharmajit Bohora said that dissatisfaction arose in the leadership after the candidates recommended by the district party were not included in the closed list. ‘It is not necessary that all the recommended candidates be included in the closed list. It would have been better if at least one person had been included in the list,' he said. 'The leadership and activists are saddened that not a single person from Dolpa, which was the main area of influence of the then People's War, was included in the closed list.' He said that the central committee should also pay attention to such matters.

Similarly, the candidates recommended by UML Dolpa from the district could not be included in the closed list. UML recommended three names, but none of them were included.

UML Dolpa recommended the names of Chandra Kumari Budha from women, Premlal BK from Dalits, and Top Bahadur Chand from Khas Arya, said District Chairman Lanka Bahadur Rokaya. Rokaya said that even though senior leaders from other districts were selected, names from Dolpa may not have been included. He informed that a meeting of the district committee has been called on the 21st of this month to recommend candidates for the direct seat of the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, Congress Dolpa had also recommended the names of three candidates. The names of former district president and founding leader of Dolpa Congress, Tanka Prasad Upadhyay, were recommended from Khas Arya, and Jayakumari Shahi and Ramadevi Neupane from women.

However, district leaders and cadres are surprised after Goma KC's name was included in the closed list submitted to the Election Commission without selecting the name of the candidate recommended by the district.

Dissatisfaction has arisen in Dolpa Congress after Goma KC, who is not even a resident of the district, was included in the closed list without being recommended by the district working committee.

'The district party had recommended three names as proportional candidates. When the names came, they were of people who were not from the district,' said Congress youth leader Jayas Upadhyay, 'The proportional candidate KC included in the commission's closed list does not belong to Dolpa. I don't even know where his home address is.'

District leaders and activists say that Dolpa has been neglected by the major parties after the Congress, UML and Nepali Communist Party did not include even a single name in the closed list of those who recommended names from the district.
