One of the four members of a family who slept in a room with charcoal in Birendranagar Municipality-12, Surkhet, has died. The 38-day-old baby has died. The other two members of the family have been found unconscious.
Tara Budha, who was a resident of Bheriganga Municipality-2 and was currently living in a rented room at Man Bahadur Chand's house in Birendranagar-12, Birendranagar, along with her sister-in-law Sangam Budha, son Prakash Budha and daughter Pratiksha Budha, were sleeping at night by burning coal.
After not waking up by 9:30 am on Thursday, the child Prakash Budha opened the door when the housewife called him, the District Police Office, Surkhet, has reported.
When the door was opened, Tara Budha, Sangam Budha and Pratiksha Budha were unconscious, and the child Prakash Budha was in a normal condition, informed Acting Information Officer Police Inspector Shyam Prakash Yadav.
All four were immediately taken to the Provincial Hospital, Kalagaun, Surkhet for treatment, but the 38-day-old baby Pratiksha Budha died during treatment, he said. The other two who were in an unconscious state are being treated.
A police team has been deployed at the scene, completed the preliminary investigation including the promissory note, and the body of the dead child has been sent to the Provincial Hospital for postmortem. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
