Four ward office buildings were inaugurated in Raskot Municipality on a single day on Monday.

New concrete buildings for 8 out of 9 ward offices of the municipality have been constructed. The buildings from Ward 1 to 4 were inaugurated on Monday and handed over to the wards, said Mayor Dharmaraj Shahi.

‘There is a plan to complete the construction of all the contracted ward offices within this year,’ he said, ‘New concrete buildings for 8 out of 9 wards have been constructed and the remaining building for Ward 5 will also be completed by Ashar.’

The administrative buildings and ward offices of Raskot Municipality, which were built after the federal structure, were constructed with the supplementary funds of the municipality, Karnali Province and the federal government. The administrative building of the municipality was constructed at a cost of 58.2 million rupees last year.

A contract agreement was signed for the construction of each ward office building at the rate of 14 million rupees from the supplementary funds of the municipality, the province government and the federal government. The new ward office buildings are equipped with toilets and drinking water facilities.

Chief Administrative Officer Mahendra Jung Shahi said that after the construction of all the wards, the amount being spent on house rent by the municipality will be saved. Commercial shutters built in Raskot's RCP Bazaar with municipal, provincial and federal grants generate more than Rs 1 lakh per month in rent.

Meanwhile, 9 out of 11 wards of Khadachakra Municipality, the district headquarters, have been renting out their offices in rented buildings for the past 9 years. Acting Chief Administrative Officer Jasi Prasad Chaulagain said that the annual rent for the ward offices in Khadachakra is Rs 1.5 million.
