The Nepal Army has defused a socket bomb found in a house in Chaujahari Municipality-1 on Friday.

The bomb, which was found on Friday morning while digging the compound of the house of local Dhiraj Bahadur Chhetri, was disposed of by the Nepal Army around 12 noon on Saturday.

According to Police Inspector Hari Pun, Information Officer of the Rukum West District Police, the locals had informed the police about the suspicious object around 7 am on Friday. 'An army team deployed from the district headquarters has deactivated it,' he said, 'This bomb may have been buried during the conflict and was found during work now.' He also said that the police are studying this further.

Unclaimed bombs/ammunition are found from time to time in Rukum, which is considered the center of the armed struggle conducted by the then Maoists from 2052 to 2062 BS. The police suspect that this bomb may have been hidden at that time.
