The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Rukum West, which was formed by a coalition of parties including the then CPN Maoist Center and CPN Unified Socialist Party, has recommended the name of Gopal Sharma for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21.
The district committee meeting held in Musikot Municipality-5, Serigaun, on Thursday recommended four names for the House of Representatives, including Sharma, in the direct proportional representation and one for the National Assembly.
Janardan Sharma had been winning all the elections in the Rukum West constituency, which was the only constituency in the then Maoist Center. Govinda Roka, the district coordinator of the NCP, said that Gopal Sharma's name was recommended for the first time as a single candidate for the House of Representatives after he did not join the party unity.
Gopal Sharma was elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly from Rukum West in 2074 BS and also became the Finance Minister. Coordinator Roka said that the NCP, Rukum West, recommended the names of Jhakku Prasad Gharti from the indigenous peoples' proportional representation for the House of Representatives, Suraj Kumar Pariyar from the Dalits, Geeta Nepali from the women's representation and Jharana Shahi from Khas Arya, and Buddhi Prasad Gautam for the National Assembly.
Among the recommended candidates, Suraj Kumar Pariyar is from the former Unified Socialist Party, while all the others are from the former Maoist Center.
