Three absconding defendants in a vehicular homicide and rape case have been arrested in Salyan.
Police have arrested Meghraj Kavar, 32, of Sharada Municipality-10, the defendant in the vehicular homicide case, Chakra Bahadur Khadka, 38, of Darma Rural Municipality-1, the defendant in the rape case, and Bimala Khadka, 39, of the same place.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hem Bahadur KC, Chief of Police at the District Police Office Salyan, Kavar was arrested from Srinagar Bazaar, Khadka from BP Chowk in Nepalgunj, and Bimala Khadka from Bachhuwa in Bardiya Bansgadhi Municipality-4.
Kavar was sentenced to three years in prison along with a fine of Rs 32,000 by the Salyan District Court a year ago. The District Court Salyan sentenced Chakra Bahadur Khadka, the defendant in the incest case, to one and a half months in prison on 18 Poush 2070, while Bimala Khadka was sentenced to six months in prison on the same day.
Police Chief KC said that all those arrested have been brought to the District Police Office, Salyan, and preparations are underway to send them to prison to serve their sentences.
