Police statistics show that drug use and trafficking in Jumla have increased rapidly in recent times. If we look at the statistics of the last three years, it seems that the youth here are getting trapped in the swamp of drugs.

People between the ages of 18 and 60 here are involved in drug use and trafficking. But the police have not been able to draw conclusions about where the drugs come from and who is doing the business. 

According to the data of the District Police Office, Jumla, 43 drug cases have been registered in the last three years. Of these, 71 people have been taken into custody by the police and are being investigated. 23 are still absconding. Although the number of drug users and dealers has increased over the years, the police do not have a clear plan to control them. 

The police said that the youth between the ages of 18 and 40 are the most involved. According to the police, teenagers aged 14/15 are also involved in drug use and trafficking. People in the age group of 60 have also been found to be involved in such activities, informed DSP Rabin Babu Regmi, Chief of the District Police Office.

According to him, awareness programs are being conducted for drug control and regulation, and 16 cases of drug use were registered in the fiscal year 2080/081. 

The police took 24 men and 2 women into custody and investigated. 5 are still absconding. There are 93 people involved in the fiscal year 2081/082. In which 23 cases have been registered and 40 men and one woman have been arrested and investigated. 12 are still on the absconding list.

Out of 43 cases filed in three years, 94 are under investigation. Of which 68 men and 3 women have been arrested. 23 are on the absconding list.

Investigation is underway on 13 people under the age of 18, 79 people between the ages of 18 and 40, and 2 people between the ages of 40 and 60. Brown sugar 21 grams 337 milligrams, hashish 214 grams 337 milligrams and 96 tablets have been seized. But it is not yet clear where the drugs are coming from.
