Police have seized 33 loaded guns illegally hidden by locals in various places in Salyan in the month of November. The police said that the search was initiated after the department issued a circular to seize the weapons hidden by locals, saying that they could be used during the elections.
In the same process, 33 loaded guns that were illegally hidden in various places in the district were recovered.
The District Police Office, Salyan, held a press conference on Wednesday and made the seized loaded guns public. While conducting a search based on confidential information, a total of 33 loaded guns were recovered, including 15 from Ward No. 10, 11 and 12 of Bangad Kupinde Municipality, 10 from Triveni Rural Municipality-1, Kavra, and 8 from other municipalities, said District Police Office, Salyan Chief of Police Dr. Hem Bahadur KC. He informed that none of the seized guns had a license.
According to him, during the search, locals found loaded guns hidden in old houses where no one could use them, some in the hills, and some in the forest. It is not clear who the guns belong to. According to the police, these guns are used to hunt wild animals.
Although one person was arrested with the loaded gun, he has been released on bail, Police Chief KC informed. He said that search operations are ongoing on the suspicion that there are still many loaded guns in various places in the district and preparations are being made to send the seized guns to the provincial office.
