Nepali Congress Jumla has recommended four names for the direct election to the House of Representatives scheduled for the upcoming Falgun 21. Although the meeting of the Congress District Working Committee, Jumla, held on 25th Mangsir finalized the names of potential candidates for direct, proportional and National Assembly, some names were revised and recommended only on Monday due to increasing controversy.
According to Congress Jumla spokesperson Megraj Giri, the first direct recommendation is the name of Congress Jumla President Karna Bahadur Shahi. In the meeting, most of the leaders and workers asked to recommend one person each for all levels of elections, but President Shahi could not recommend a single one.
Similarly, the names of Kantika Sejuwal, Purna Prasad Acharya and Khadka Bahadur Sejuwal have been recommended. Kantika, who will be recommended as the second number, is also a former MP. She is the first mayor of Chandannath Municipality, a member of the Congress Central Committee and has also been an MP on the proportional side.
Congress Jumla has recommended the names of 15 people on the proportional side. The Congress has stated that all the names have been recommended after the aspirants did not give up their claims despite long discussions. In which the name of Dinbandhu Shrestha has been recommended from the tribal and backward areas. He is a former provincial MP and former Minister of Water Resources of Karnali.
Dhan Bahadur Basnet has been recommended from Khas Arya, Gorakh Bahadur Sunar from Dalit, Maya Nepali from Dalit women, Netrakala Shahi and Navina KC Baduwal from women. Govinda Bahadur Shahi, Purichandra Devkota, Laxmi Prasad Acharya, Pareklal Gharti, Karnjung Hamal, Jayahari Acharya, Lal Bahadur GC and Rajab Alimanihar have been recommended for the proportional representation.
Congress Jumla has recommended four names for the National Assembly. Karnali Province President and former MP Lalit Jung Shahi, former Minister of State for Forest Bhakta Bahadur Rokaya, Bhimanidhi Hamal and Suman Budha Basnet have been recommended. Although there was a unanimous decision in the name of Ramkrishna Neupane from the disability sector, his name was removed from the recommendation.
The Congress has already sent all the names to the Karnali Province Committee. Spokesperson Giri informed that the province has made arrangements to send them to the central office.
