A controversy has erupted after two parties sent two recommendations to the center for the House of Representatives elections to be held on March 21 from the Kalikot Congress.

Objecting to the recommendation of the names of Bhupendra Jung Shahi and three others signed by party president Ambahadur Shahi of the establishment faction, Gagan Thapa faction leaders including former party president Harsh Bahadur Bam and Mahasamiti member Narayan Prasad Bhattarai have sent a separate recommendation on Saturday. According to the list signed by the district president on Friday and sent to central president Sher Bahadur Deuba, the names of Bhupendra, the party president himself and women leader Sita Rawal are for the direct seat in the House of Representatives. Kali Bahadur Sahakari (Khas Arya), Sushila Shahi Bam (woman) and Man Bahadur Nepali (Dalit) have been recommended for the proportional representation side, and Tekraj Shahi and Yahoda Shahi have been recommended for the National Assembly to be held in Magh. Expressing disagreement with these names, Senior Vice President Min Bahadur Bogati has recommended the names of 12 people, including 5 direct seats, 5 proportional seats and 2 seats in the National Assembly.

Vice President Bogati has alleged that the establishment party has unilaterally decided to hide the meeting book after saying that they will try to reach a consensus after there were many aspirants in the Congress meeting starting from November 24. Harsh Bahadur Bam, Narayan Prasad Bhattai, Daman Raj Bam, Kesharjung Bam and Jeevan Subedi have been directly recommended from the Bogati group, while Karnali Province Vice President and former President Kali Bahadur Sahakari, former President Mukti Prasad Neupane, Bhawana Kumari Shahi, Chhaya Sunar and Bharat BK have been recommended for the proportional representation. Bishnu Bahadur Shahi and Dan Bahadur Bam have been recommended for the national assembly.

Former President Harsh Bahadur Bam said at a press conference, 'The conspiracy to weaken the Congress started from the party president. The president, who said that he was not an aspirant in the party meeting, has inserted his name in the recommendation.'

Former district president and Karnali province vice-president Kali Bahadur Sahakari's name was recommended by both parties, so he would have been accepted as the common candidate for the direct election, said Mahasamiti member Dan Bahadur Bam.

Stating that the party president had recommended the name by forging signatures in violation of the rules and procedures, disgruntled party leader Narayan Bhattarai argued that a few people should not be accepted arbitrarily in the party.

Party president Ambabahadur Shahi claimed that the allegations made by the disgruntled party were baseless. 'The majority of members recommended it,' he said, 'We recommended 3/3 people as per the instructions of the center. The only allegation is that it was one-sided because it was not possible to send all the names as per the demand of the disgruntled party. There is no truth in that.'
