26,000 new voters have been added to Karnali Province for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for February 21.
After the election announcement, the Election Commission opened the voter list for registration and updating, adding 26,635 voters.
Provincial Election Officer Lal Bahadur Gurung informed that the province had 1 million 6,834 voters before.
According to him, the details of the newly added voters have been made public. This time, the number of people registering their names in the voter list online has increased. The commission had made arrangements for online registration based on the details of the national identity card including photo and fingerprints.
More than 80 percent of the 17 to 25 year age group in Karnali have applied to be voters. According to the Provincial Election Office, 7,362 new voters have been added in Surkhet. 3,626 have been added in Dailekh, while 2,840 have been added in Rukum Paschim.
Similarly, 1,07 voters have been added in Dolpa, 3,036 in Jumla, 774 in Mugu and 824 in Humla. 1,776 new voters have been added in Kalikot. Similarly, 2,210 voters have been added in Jajarkot, and 3,180 voters have been added in Salyan.
