The Karnali Provincial Government has deployed three doctors to three local levels of Humla to provide medical services to citizens facing health problems due to geographical remoteness.
Dr. Umakant Tiwari, Chief of the Health Service Office Humla, informed that medical manpower has been deployed in Kharpunath, Sarkeghat and Adanchuli rural municipalities of Humla. According to him, now medical services have been expanded to the local level in Humla as well. Dr. Diesel Yadav has been sent to Kharpunath, Dr. Ishwari Poudel to Sarkeghat and Dr. Ganesh Jaisi to Adanchuli.
Dr. Diesel Yadav is currently providing services in Kharpunath. Doctors have not reached Adanchuli and Sarkeghat due to the lack of necessary health infrastructure. They have been temporarily deployed to the District Hospital Humla, informed Chief Dr. Tiwari.
‘As soon as the infrastructure is ready in the municipality, arrangements will be made for them to go to their workplaces,’ said Chief Tiwari, ‘Before that, they will stay at the district hospital and provide services.’
The people of Humla, who are deprived of treatment due to the lack of health workers, are excited that three doctors have been deployed at the local level at once. Health services were being provided at the local level amidst geographical remoteness. Due to the inability to provide medical services, patients were forced to come to the district headquarters Simikot at great expense, said Chief Tiwari, "Now the provincial government has sent doctors to make health services easier. This is also a good opportunity in the health sector of Humla."
It is expected that basic health services will be strengthened at the local level after the provincial government mobilizes medical manpower. Currently, the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences is providing health services by sending medical manpower to Humla. Treatment of complex diseases was also carried out by conducting specialist camps repeatedly.
