The Nepali Army has provided defense-related training to journalists from Karnali and Lumbini.
A four-day Defense Correspondent Orientation Training was organized by the Army's Public Relations and Information Directorate at the Northwest Division Headquarters in Surkhet. North West Division Chief Dipesh Jung Shah said that this training is necessary as the media plays an important role in shaping the thinking of the society.
'Journalists need to write news professionally,' he said, 'This four-day training aims to inform journalists about the responsibilities and role of the Nepal Army.'
Shah said that informative presentations will be made on the auxiliary role of the army, its structure, regular activities, and the current security environment. The directorate also stated that interactive discussions and feedback exchange sessions will be included between the participating media personnel and source persons.
24 journalists from Karnali Province as well as Banke and Bardiya districts of Lumbini Province are participating in the training.
