The rural municipality honored those who donated land for the construction of the rural municipality building in the presence of Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamalal Kandel on Tuesday. The municipality has also made a list of land donors and placed a plaque on the newly constructed building.
Rural municipality vice-chair Parbat Singh Sanjyal said that the municipality will never forget the kindness of the locals who donated 8,000 square meters of paddy field free of charge to establish the municipality's center in Mehelmudi. 'Some brothers and sisters have given the municipality free of charge even though they do not have a single plot of land elsewhere. We have honored Danbir, who gave land to cultivate and eat,' she said.
In 2077, the rural municipality had moved forward with the building construction process after 31 people, including 4 from the Dalit community, donated land. Ward 6 chair Nahakul Sanjyal said that Byasi Luwar, Veere Luwar, Dalbir Luwar and Jane Luwar from the Dalit community, who had only one plot of land, registered 600 square meters of land in the name of the municipality.
Landowner Veere Luwar said that he is ready to give land even if he has to become a squatter for the development of his place. ‘I am happy that the municipality has respected me. If my place is built, I will support my family by working as a wage laborer,’ he said. The other landowners are 4 Upadhyayas and 23 people from the Sanjyal clan. Chief Minister Kandel inaugurated the building on Monday after the construction of the building, which was contracted for 78.844 million in 2079 Shrawan, was completed.
