Although the road reaches 8 out of 9 local level centers in Kalikot, it takes 3 hours to reach the center of Mahabai from Serawada on the Karnali Highway. Although a road is being built from Dailekh to connect Mahabai, there is no transport facility to go to the district headquarters.
An old bailey bridge was installed on the Tila River on the way to Mahabai last year. The Road Department is working on a contract to build a concrete bridge over the Padamghat River.
The rural municipality chairman Khem Bahadur Singh said that preparations are being made to award a contract after receiving the budget under the provincial and local road improvement program with the support of the World Bank to connect the rural municipality to the district headquarters. ‘We have already built a bailey bridge at Serawada on the Tila River.’ "Work is also underway to build a concrete bridge on the Padamghat River," he said. "Now a concrete road will be built up to the municipality center."
Rural Municipality Vice-Chairman Dansingh Sejuwal said that explosives will have to be used after crossing the Tila River at Serabada on the Karnali Highway due to the hard rocks.
The provincial government has allocated Rs 100 million for the project, which will also be cost-shared by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development of Karnali Province in the current fiscal year.
