Currently, internet service has been completely disrupted in the areas around Srinagar and Khalanga in Salyan, and local residents, organizations, and offices have been affected.
The Salyan Electricity Authority cut off the internet cables of various companies that were connected to electricity poles in a haphazard manner around Srinagar in the district last night.
The Authority has cut the wires of Techmind, Wordlink, and Neolink, saying that the internet companies neglected to sign an agreement to pay the annual fee to the Authority for installing wires on electricity poles. After the wires were cut, internet service in the areas around Srinagar and Khalanga has been completely disrupted, while locals, organizations, and offices have been affected.
The wires were installed in a way that was chaotic and the wires were cut as a warning after repeated requests to sign an agreement to pay the fee for using the poles were not heeded, said the Authority's Salyan chief, Dinesh Poudel. He said that half a dozen internet companies, including Nepal Telecom, used electricity poles in Salyan.
The Authority had issued a notice to sign an agreement by the 3rd, but Neolink's operator, Suman KC, said that his company's wire was cut even though he went to the office and signed an agreement on the 2nd.
Pradeep Basnet of Techmind said that although the authority published the notice, there was some delay in consulting with the head office and the agreement could not be reached within the stipulated time.
