Police have arrested a man on charges of setting fire to a pickle shop in Surkhet.
On Kartik 30, a fire broke out at Navadurga Baby Shop and 'Shanta's Pickle Shop' located at Sanihal Line, Birendranagar Municipality-6. Surkhet Police have taken 28-year-old Deepak Kandel, a resident of Birendranagar-8, under arrest on charges of arson.
A fire broke out at 'Nabadurga Baby Shop' operated by Junakumari Bohora in shutter number 1 of a 2-storey tin-roofed supermarket with 18 shutters operated by Shyam Chalaune and Dhan Bahadur GC. Similarly, 'Shanta's Pickle Shop' operated by Khagisara Budha Rokaya in shutter number 2 also caught fire. Both the shops were destroyed in the fire.
Surkhet Police Spokesperson DSP Mohanjung Budhathapa informed that one person was arrested while investigating the fire. According to him, further investigation is underway against the arrested.
