The Karnali provincial government has reduced the number of ministries. The decision to reduce the number of ministries was taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday morning.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, government spokesperson and Agriculture Minister Binod Shah said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law has been reduced. He said that the work of the ministry has been maintained in such a way that it is done through the Office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers. 

There were eight ministries in Karnali Province, including the Office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, the Ministry of Land Management and Agriculture, and the Ministry of Social Development. Similarly, the government has made six decisions.

To approve the organizational structure and post proposals of the Office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers and the Karnali Provincial Training Institute, and to implement the recommendations of the report of the Structural Reform Committee led by former Secretary Laxman Aryal formed by the provincial government

To implement the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Karnali Provincial Government has merged the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law with the Office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers, reducing the current number of ministries from eight to seven.

In which 25 employees, including one minister and one provincial secretary, have been cut. In both ministries, the current staff strength is 101, but a total of 76 posts have been created. This will streamline administrative work and reduce annual expenditure by about Rs 30 million for current and administrative expenses.

The organizational structure of the Karnali Provincial Training Institute, which has been stalled for a long time despite its establishment, has been approved. In which 14 new posts, including one executive director, have been approved.

The work to be done by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law has been changed by the Chief Minister and the Ministry. Arrangements have been made accordingly. Karnali Expenditure Criteria 2082 has been approved. In which current and administrative expenses have been made consistent with federal laws, revised in a timely manner and economical.

Karnali Provincial Strategy for Ending Child Marriage, 2082 has been approved. It has been decided to depute Deputy Secretary Surendra Bahadur Shahi as the Executive Director of the Karnali Province Foundation for a maximum period of six months. According to the Karnali Province Annual Program and Appropriation Act, an amount of Rs 48.552 crore has been authorized to be given to the concerned local level for martyrs' memorial allowance and living allowance.
