Plans are underway to upgrade the Tripurakot-Maure road to connect Jumla and Dolpa with Rara and Phoksundo Lakes.

The road from Tripurakot to Maure Lake, which falls under Tripurasundari Municipality-1 in Dolpa, is to be upgraded. The upgrade is to be carried out with a budget of Rs 259.988 crore from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development of the Karnali Province Government.
The foundation stone of the road upgrade work was laid by Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development Sher Bahadur Budha on Saturday morning. Speaking at the foundation stone laying program chaired by District Coordination Committee Chief Shyam Bahadur Rokaya, Minister Budha said that after the road upgrade, the locals of Jumla and Dolpa will be connected to easy road connectivity and Rara and Phoksundo Lakes will also be connected through the road. He said that if the two major tourist destinations of Karnali are connected by road, it will help in promoting tourism in both districts and the locals will be able to earn money by doing tourist-oriented businesses. Similarly, Minister Budha said that a budget of Rs 40 million has been allocated for the road connecting Chun-Gard, Liku and Balangra, and efforts are being made to increase the budget. This road section, which is being implemented as a multi-year plan, connects Rara Lake in Mugu via Tripurakot, Chhal, Kaigaun, Maurelek, Jumla.
The road upgrade work should be completed within two years, but the agreement for the road was signed last Ashar.
The total length of the Tripurakot-Maure road, which BNT Kutumb JV has taken over the construction, is 68 kilometers.
Since the work of opening the track of the road has already been done, a gravel road with a drain will be constructed from this budget to the holy religious area of Budhal Mast Temple-Chhal, said Tek Hitan, head of the Physical Infrastructure Office, Dolpa.
Along with this, he said that the areas with narrow roads including Balangra Lake and Kuchibhir will be widened and upgraded.
Speaking at the program, District Coordination Committee Chief Rokaya and Tripurasundari Municipality Mayor Janachandra Rokaya thanked Minister Budha for allocating the budget for the road.
Stating that the local government will play an important role in implementing the budget received from the provincial government, they also suggested construction entrepreneurs not to stop the work without any excuse.
