Chief Minister Kandel said that people's representatives should come to the forefront in the current situation as they have the responsibility to protect the country's constitution along with public service delivery and development.
He urged people's representatives at the local level and the province level to lead from their respective places to serve the people and protect the constitution, given the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Chief Minister Kandel said that the current government had to be accepted under circumstances and compulsion, even though the constitution does not recognize it, and he believed that the constitution can be saved if the citizen level can be vigilant as much as possible and the government cannot violate the constitution. He said, "The more people come out on the streets to save the constitution through public demonstrations rather than through movements at the civic level, the more the constitution will be saved and the government's violation of the constitution will be stopped."
Stating that after Bhadra 23 and 24, a psychological fear was created that political party leaders and people's representatives would never return, Chief Minister Kandel said that the situation had changed within two months. He said, "The situation after Bhadra 23 and 24 has affected everyone, but if we look at the activities of the government and the protesters at that time, they behaved as if there were no parties in the country, and the civil administration was also terrorized accordingly." The gathering, which will continue until Wednesday, is attended by the mayors, chairmen, deputy mayors, vice-chairmen and coordinators of the provincial municipalities and rural municipalities.
