A corruption case has been filed against 8 people, including the then Acting Chief Administrative Officer of Tripurasundari Municipality, Lal Prasad Pokharel.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a case in a special court on Monday on charges of embezzling lakhs of rupees from the state by selecting a bidding company through an incorrect process in the road upgrade project. The commission has also filed a corruption case against Divya Nirman Sewa Pvt. Ltd. along with the aforementioned person. 

In the fiscal year 2078/89, the Commission has approved the cost of Rs 83,82,998 for the upgrade of the motor road from Khadang to Lhasa in Ward No. 5 and awarded the work to the firm that had submitted the lowest bid among the firms that applied, the commission has said.

According to commission spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel, investigation and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused with the filing of the case. The commission has demanded Rs 55,89,063 in damages from the accused for irregularities.
