A detainee has died in Surkhet. The detainee died in the custody of the District Police Office, Surkhet, in a drug trafficking case. The deceased has been identified as Gange Sunar, 35, of Pipira, Birendranagar Municipality-11.

According to DSP Mohanjung Budthapa, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Sunar was found unconscious in his bed at 5:58 am on Friday.

His friends who were sleeping with him had informed the police on duty when they tried to wake him up in the morning. He said, "We immediately took him to the provincial hospital. The doctor declared him dead."

DSP Budthapa said that Sunar has been in custody for 78 days. According to him, the case was filed with the government attorney's office four days ago and his case was heard today (Friday).

CCTV footage installed in the custody has been viewed after the detainee's death. Police said that he was seen sitting in bed until 11 am.
