The Degree Mela of Rukum West has been organized with grandeur this year as usual. Every year, a fair is held in the temple premises of Degree Shaikumari Bhagwati located in Tharpu, Musikot Municipality-5, from Kartik Shukla Ekadashi to Purnima, with special pujas on the last day.
This fair can be considered as a unique confluence of local art and culture and original traditions. It is estimated that more than one lakh devotees have come here this year to visit the temple with the belief that their wishes will be fulfilled and to enjoy the excitement of the fair. This temple, which is open for daily worship and darshan for 365 days a year, holds a grand gathering with special worship on the bright fortnight of Kartik. Devotees who reach here also sacrifice a goat with the belief that their vows have been fulfilled. Devotees from Rukum West and surrounding areas as well as far and wide come here to visit the temple and attend the fair.
Some are dancing to the tune of the Singaru Bhaka, some are enjoying the peacock dance. Some are enjoying the meeting with friends, and some are enjoying the spinning of the spinning wheel. Whether children, youth or the elderly, everyone is completely covered by the excitement of the fair.
