The District Administration Office, Dolpa, has issued a notice advising people not to trek in religious and tourist areas of the district. The notice has been issued as the high mountainous areas within the district have been experiencing continuous rain and snowfall for the past three days.
The administration has urged domestic and foreign tourists to stop traveling to Phoksundo Lake and the Upper Dolpa area in Shey-Phoksundo Rural Municipality-8 as they are currently entering.

The administration has also urged tourists who have already set out on a trek to stay safely in their places until the weather clears.
After the road was blocked due to heavy snow in the Phoksundo Lake area, a joint team of the Nepal Army and the police cleared the road by shoveling snow, said Ruk Bahadur Khadka, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Dolpa.
DSP Khadka also informed that the tourists who were stuck in the lake returned after the snow was removed from the road.
Ward Chairperson Nima Lama informed that heavy snow has accumulated in the Phoksundo Lake area due to continuous snowfall and that snowfall is still ongoing.
