Eight people have died and 10 others have been injured after a jeep heading towards Aathbiskot Municipality fell 700 meters off the road.
Eight people died and 10 others were injured in a jeep accident in Lisne, Bafikot Rural Municipality-7, Rukum West, on Monday.
According to District Police Chief DSP Pramesh Bista, the jeep (Ra 1 Ja 422) heading from the district headquarters Musikot Khalanga to Syalakhad in Aathbiskot Municipality fell about 700 meters off the road.
The deceased have been identified as Tekjung Budha, 16, Kalpana Nepal, 15, Sabita BK, 28, Dilmaya Budha, 15, Manika Oli, 17, Sharmila BK, 18, Gopal Oli, 22, and Kamala Oli of Aathbiskot-3.
Similarly, the injured are 17-year-old Sirjana Budha of Aathbiskot-1, 15-year-old Sapna Nepal, 18-year-old Juna Budha, 17-year-old Sangita Budha, 19-year-old Shanti Budha, 17-year-old Anjana Airi, 20-year-old Mahima Oli, 17-year-old Manisha Thapa, 15-year-old Sabita Bik and driver Topjung Budha of Musikot-2.
Among the injured, Juna Budha has been referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment, while the remaining nine are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Salle, informed DSP Bista.
Police said that the deceased and the injured were returning to their village after attending an event when the jeep met with an accident.
