The road near the district headquarters collapsed and has not been repaired even after a month.

What you should know

The risk has increased due to the lack of repair of the collapsed road just before entering the main market area of the district headquarters in Musikot Municipality-1.

A landslide occurred on Bhadra 13 between Shahid Gate and Pushpalal Chowk, which are located on the Rapti Highway. The road collapsed on that day due to heavy rains, and the power transmission line was also affected when the pole broke, while the parking building under construction in Shahid Maidan below was also affected. Although the power was repaired at that time, the road has not been repaired yet.

Since the slope has weakened from the inside, only light vehicles have been entering the market since then, and this is also a risk. Local Nim Bahadur Pun complained that although the municipality was expected to carry out the repair work immediately, the work has not been done yet. ‘This is not such a big landslide. But why has this road not been repaired even after a month when there is a rush of vehicles and people and it is close to the main market?’ he asked.

Deputy Chief of Musikot Municipality Bimal Kumar Pun said that the problem would be solved after Tihar. ‘Although the landslide looks small, it is estimated that a large investment will be required since work has to be done from below. That is why we are arranging the necessary budget.’

He said that the work could not be done due to the rains continuing till Dashain and now Tihar has arrived. He promised that the work would proceed after Tihar.
