A horse race competition is organized every year on Dasain Phoolpati at Rajasim Maidan located in Chandannath Municipality-5 of Jumla. Annual horse race is organized for the encouragement of horse breeding farmers and the protection of horses.

This time horse race was held simultaneously in Gutichour Patan of Gutichour Rural Municipality and Rajasim of Khalanga. Local Anand Adhikari said that horse race is organized every year to protect and expose the traditional culture of Jumli horse.

This time 41 horses were raced. He says that the number of running horses is increasing every year. The race was judged in 'Palit', 'Movement/Step' and 'Open Race' categories. Amrit Budha was the first, Rajkumar Budha was the second and Angraj Budha and Ramkumar Budha were the third in the

pet category. Rajendra Rokaya stood first, Hark Bahadur Shahi second and Ganesh Shahi third in the move/step category. In the open race, Kali Prasad Neupane was the winner, Rabindra Dahra was the second and Lok Prasad Neupane was the third. The winners were awarded certificates with a cash amount of up to Rs.15,000 .

Horse Racing Culture Protection and Promotion Committee, Animal Hospital and Animal Services Office and Chandannath Municipality coordinated the program. Horses were brought for horse racing from Chandannath, Patarasi, Sinja and Gutichour rural villages.

Jayakrishna Dharal of Chandannath Municipality-8 said that the race has developed the awareness of jumli horse conservation among the farmers. He said, "Earlier it was difficult to find a twin horse." With the start of this race, a mentality has developed that every household should have a horse. After the Karnali highway was put into operation, horse rearing decreased .

On the occasion of Dasain, 41 horses participated in the horse race at Gutichour Patan of Gutichour Rural Municipality. Shankar Rokaya came first, Surendra Thapa came second and Ashtaman Bohra came third. They were awarded certificates with Rs 15,000, 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
