Dolpa, which was connected to the national road network for the first time in November 2075, has been limited to internal traffic for 6 months of the year. Dolpa is connected to the national road network only in winter every year because there are no concrete roads and concrete bridges over rivers and streams. Dolpa is connected to the national road network by the Veri Corridor.
From April to October, Dolpa is confined to the internal road network for 7 months and is connected to the national road only for 6 months. On Tuesday, four-wheeled vehicles, including direct buses from Nepalgunj and Kathmandu, reached Dolpa headquarters in Dunai and were connected to the national road network again this year. This sequence has been repeating for 6 years .
Due to the rise in the water level in the Bheri river and other streams in the middle of the corridor, direct buses to Dolpa were stopped after last May. In the meantime, passengers are forced to travel by changing vehicles at four to five places. There are no concrete bridges on more than half a dozen rivers and streams in the middle of the corridor. In the absence of a motorable bridge, the Dolpa internal road network is shrinking for 6 months of the rainy season every year. Bheri Corridor has been connected from Chinchu in Surkhet to Morimla Naka in Upper Dolpa . The length of this road is 371 km.
Bheri Corridor is also known as an important trilateral trade route connecting China and India. The condition of the 61 km road from Jajarkot's Talnubagar to Dolpa's Dunai is dangerous. If a motorable bridge is not built in the river in the middle of the dirt and narrow road, there is a compulsion to travel by changing vehicles at four/five places. Passengers entering and exiting the district say that they had to cross rivers and change vehicles at Chalgad, Chuagad, Gotamkot, Mulatara and other places between Talnu and Dunai.
Dolpa was connected to the national road network by the Nepali Army in November 2015 and handed over to the road department, but the upgrading and construction of concrete bridges has not been completed. Jayas Upadhyay, a resident of Tripurasundari Municipality-1, said that Dolpali had to face problems for 6 months of the year because the necessary bridge was not built on the Bheri Corridor connecting the remote district Dolpa with the city . He said, "We have to pay double/triple fares for not reaching the destination on time for 6 months, and we have to obey the driver's whims." He said, "The people of Dolpali are suffering due to the upgrading of roads and concrete bridges on rivers and streams." He said that there is a problem because the bridges under construction are not completed even though the contract has already been opened.
He said that since the police administration of Dolpa, Rukum West and Jajarkot were not interested, passengers entering and leaving Dolpa had to face various harassments during their journey from Talnubagar to Dunai in Jajarkot for 6 months . Advocate Purnaprasad Hamal said that passengers will start suffering from Tripurakot market in Dolpa while traveling on Bheri Corridor.
Hamal says that even though the direct bus is running from Tuesday to Dolpa, the road from Tripurakot to Talnubagar is suffering due to dilapidated roads, jeep drivers and businessmen's capriciousness. "More than two dozen jeeps with four and nine seat capacity are operating between this road section, these jeeps transfer passengers from one place to another and take them to Tallubagar, due to which there is a problem of passengers being cheated on the fare and not reaching their destination on time."
According to Hamal, even if the jeep is full of passengers, it does not leave on time, the driver stops the vehicle for hours on the road on the pretext of having food/lunch, and it takes two days to reach Surkhet-Nepalgunj because it carries more passengers than the seating capacity. He says, "Traffic police are in the middle of this section." However, no action is taken even if there are arbitrary passengers in the jeep, charging more fare, and sometimes the police does not take action even if the driver is drunk and driving.'
He said that if the road from Talani to Dunai is upgraded and a bridge is built in the middle of the river, such problems will be solved by themselves. Since the vehicle has to be changed in places, it costs less for the passengers to go to Nepalgunj by ship than by car. During the rainy season, the fare from Dolpa to reach Nepalgunj is only 6,700 rupees. Passengers complain that traveling by car costs up to 10,000. Travelers also say that the Bheri Corridor Office Jajarkot and the local level on this road have blocked the road for hours during the rainy season when the small problems on the road are not resolved in time.
According to Achyutvilas Pant, Engineer of Bheri Corridor Office, Jajarkot, two contracts have been implemented to upgrade the road from Talnubagar to Dunai and bring direct traffic into operation. He says, "Now, the state has invested about 10 billion in this section, contracts have also been awarded to other agencies for the construction of concrete bridges in between, two excavators are ready to repair the damaged road in the middle of the corridor." Tell . He said that direct buses came from Kathmandu, Nepalgunj and other cities after 6 months on Tuesday as an initiative to repair blocked roads in places targeting festivals like Dasaintihhar.
The 35 km road track of Bheri Corridor from Lasicap to Sisoul is yet to be opened. Due to delay in the work by the builders and the difficulty in purchasing the explosives, the construction work of 25 km road from Dunai to Lasicap has been stalled for three years . The 40 km road track from Sisaul to Morimla naka has already been opened .
