Export of more than 2,000 khasibo worth 4.5 crores from Salyan for Dasain

From 10 local levels of Salyan, 2,200 khasibo worth about 4.5 million rupees have been exported for Dasain.

Khasibo worth 4.5 crores were exported through Kapurkot, Sallibazar, Kalimati Rampur, Ghuiyabari checkpoints of the district.

More than 200 khasibos were exported from each of the 10 local levels of the district, said Birendra Kumar KC, Information Officer of Animal Hospital and Animal Services Office, Salyan. He informed that the Khasibo raised by the farmers in the district were exported from local buyers including Dhruvatara Khasibo suppliers, Bageshwari Sheep and Goat Suppliers, Garud Agriculture Pvt Ltd, various cooperatives.

According to him, the farmers of one municipality in the district have been bringing in 8 to 10 million by selling khasibo throughout the year, but in this ten-year period alone, the farmers of one municipality have brought in more than 40 million. He said that most of the Khasibos exported from Salyan went to Kathmandu and other big cities. 

In the past, farmers used to rear 4/6 to 10/15 goats for salt, oil, and food grains at home, but after the increase in demand in cities outside the district, lately farmers have been rearing 30 to 100 goats commercially. 

80 percent of the farmers in the district are rearing goats and selling more than 600 million annually  He says that he is bringing it in.
