Since there are 52 weeks in a year, a lingo of 52 hands and a flag are kept in Chandannath temple. Throughout the year, lingo is installed in the temple with the belief that the gods and goddesses protect them from natural calamities.

Only after changing the lingo, it is the custom of Jumlawasi to keep Jamra in their respective houses and start Ghatasthapana. Due to this reason, the locals of the district usually keep jamra only after noon. Locals of the temple area have taken soil from the same temple and kept it in Jamra.

Until a decade ago, it was a tradition to send religious materials for temples from different districts of Karnali region on the occasion of changing the lingo. It was customary to bring food and money from Jumla, Babio, ghee, honey from Humla, Thetuwa, Chawri Furko and Thapka from Humla and meat, Mugi dal, Radipakhi from Mugu.

Now this tradition has stopped. Ratna Prasad Acharya, head of the office of Chandannath Bhairavanath Guthi Committee, said, "Now all the arrangements are made through the security personnel." The tradition of eating new grain (Nuvagi) by Jumlabasi on Ghatasthapana day has been going on for a long time.
