The festival was inaugurated by Dan Bahadur Budha, chairman of the rural municipality.
President Budha informed that 25 flights were taken on the first day on Sunday. 12 pilots have arrived at Gutichour from Pokhara, Syangja and Surkhet for the paragliding festival. This year, the target is to fly more than 250, said Budha, the chairman of the rural municipality. 234 flights were made in the first paragliding festival. President Budha said that the paragliding sector is going to be promoted to develop adventure tourism. 'The festival is not only for entertainment,' President Budha said, 'It is equally important to keep Gutichour on the map of adventure tourism.' Those who love
can fully observe the beauty of Gutichour. Along with this, they are getting to study the apple orchards, green forests and Patan areas as well as the dense settlements of Jumla.
One person will get flight service from minimum 20 to maximum 30 minutes in the sky of Gutichhour. A fee of 3,500 rupees has been set for locals and 4,000 rupees for foreign tourists.
Rural Municipality has organized a paragliding festival to establish itself as a tourism destination. The infrastructure, security arrangements and pilot management required for the festival are also being done effectively. Health workers have also been kept with the necessary equipment.
It is hoped that this work will bring changes in the living standards of the locals. It is expected that employment will increase in the areas of hotels, restaurants, transportation, guide services, etc., and opportunities to bring local products to the market will be created.
Rural Municipality Chairman Budha said that the paragliding festival will be organized as an annual festival.
