A writ has been filed against the Karnali government's decision to surround the government offices with a wall. Advocate Prakashbabu Aidy and Gopal Bahadur Aidy and Deepak Budhathoki, students studying law at Midwest University, Surkhet, filed a writ on Wednesday, demanding an injunction with an interim order.

In order to beautify the capital and protect the government property, the provincial government has taken forward the process of encircling the government offices of Birendranagar, including city hospital, ward office, district administration, police, cargo, electricity, drinking water etc. The government is planning to build a wall 2.5 km long and 9 feet high.

The infrastructure development directorate of the state government opened the tender on June 27 and started the process. The process of construction of the wall has started with an investment of 397 crores.

Chief Minister's Office and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development, Directorate of Infrastructure Development, Birendranagar Municipality and Surkhet Valley City Development Committee have been requested to issue an interim order to stop the construction of the wall and the decisions made so far.

Many people have also opposed the decision to erect walls in government offices that are directly related to the people. Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Karnali state assembly member Santoshi Shahi termed this decision of the government as 'fatal, anti-people and the culmination of looting'. She also demanded immediate cancellation.
