The Kalekhola road section of the Karnali highway, which was brought into operation on Thursday after two days of rain, has been blocked again on Friday. The road was blocked after the earlier part of the road towards Dill collapsed again.

Kalikot police chief Tek Bahadur Rawat said that although two machines had cleared the mud from the side of the road and made it passable for small vehicles since Thursday afternoon, the highway collapsed again due to rain on Friday night. According to him, there is a situation where even jeeps, buses and ambulances cannot enter.

Trucks carrying food and construction materials from Surkhet-Nepalgunj and apples from Jumla have stopped on the way. Naresh Neupane, a businessman, who feared that the apples bought from Jumla would rot when the road was blocked by a landslide, complained.

'10 tons of Jumla apples were bought and brought,' he said. Although the road division office Jumla has kept the machine ready to operate the blocked road in Kalikot's Kalekhola, the work has not started as the rain has not stopped.

Daman Devkota, a driver who was traveling from Manm to Surkhet, said that the rain caused last night's rain in Karnali highway Surkhet-Jumla road between Kalekhola and Hulm in Kalikot.
