As in previous years, this year too, more than 200 farmers have been affected by wild boars. Farmers of the district, who have been making a living for four months a year by producing corn, are now in a dilemma of how to manage their household expenses.

Balaram Oli, a farmer of Chhatreshwari-2 Khorbare, said that the maize planted in two plantations was attacked by a wild boar. He said that the boars coming into the herd have damaged the maize of all the villagers. "We have been keeping watch all day to protect the corn crop from wild boars, but we cannot stay at night," he said, "The wild boars come at night by tying the hulls." By morning, everything is done.'

Lal Bahadur Gharti, the Ward President of Bangad Kupinde-12 Nigalchula, said that the wild boars have completely destroyed the maize planted on more than 50 plants of 35 farmers in Chaur and Bhadale. He said that three people were injured when they chased the wild boar to save the corn crop.

Kumakh rural municipality's agriculture branch officer Susan Gautam said that wild boars have damaged the corn crops of many farmers in Ward No. 5 and 6. He says that the team from the municipality is preparing to go to the house to collect the bond to find out how much damage the wild boar has caused.

Ganesh Bhandari, agricultural technician of Chhatreshwari rural municipality, said that although the farmers from some places had informed that the wild boars had destroyed the maize crop, no one had submitted the application. He said that the technical team is ready to go to the farmers after receiving the information about crop damage.

Tek Bahadur Rawal, head of Division Forest Office Salyan, said that if wild animals damage crops, they would provide 10,000 relief, but only three people from Sharda Municipality-5 have applied so far.
