The body of 17-year-old Dikeshanath Yogi of Hima Rural Municipality-3, who died during treatment at the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences last Saturday, was found four days later by his relatives. After a day-long discussion on Monday, after reaching an agreement between the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences and the relatives of the deceased, the family identified the body on Tuesday morning.
The relatives did not accept the body, demanding that action be taken against the doctors involved in the operation of Dickeshnath, relief and compensation to the family. To investigate the incident, a three-member investigation committee was formed under the coordination of Gaurinanda Acharya, the head of the district coordination committee. The committee was supposed to submit its report within three days. But the coordinator of the inquiry committee, Acharya, informed that an agreement has been reached between the relatives of the deceased, the establishment and the inquiry committee.
'A mutual agreement has been made internally,' said the chief Acharya. The family is satisfied with the agreement and has accepted the body. ’
Foundation Teaching Hospital Jumla Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pujankumar Rokaya said that the family took the dead body away. "It was a sad situation to lose a life during treatment in the hospital," he said, "but everyone agreed to put ointment on the pain of the deceased family." He was in the hospital for almost two months.
Chief District Officer Kedarnath Sharma said that the body was identified according to the mutual agreement between the deceased's family, Karnali Foundation and the investigation committee. He said, "The committee was given three days to investigate the Dikesnath death case." The report should not be submitted after mutual agreement. Now it seems that the committee should investigate the overall hospital management, limits and problems.'
The family has said that Dickeshnath will be cremated on Tuesday.
