Children studying in Tribhuvan Janata Mavi Chiura have become very comfortable after the construction of a steel bridge on the Bangad river. In the past, when the river rose during the rainy season, the children of Rauche, Bangad Kupinde municipality, used to venture from the bank.
More than a hundred students of Rauche had to risk their lives to cross the Bangad River to study during the rainy season.
Infrastructure Development Office Salyan had constructed a 50 meter long steel bridge by allocating Rs. After the Pu law, the children of Rauche are now able to go to school regularly even during the rainy season.
After the construction of the steel bridge, not only the students but also the locals are comfortable, said Neemraj Sunar, president of the local and bridge construction committee. During the rainy season, in the two months of July and August, when the water level in the Bangad River would be high, the parents of Rauche used to come to the river to drop their children off from school. When the parents did not come, the locals used to carry the small children and cross the river. Not so now. Children from big to small cross the bridge to go to school easily, he said.
In the past, the children of Rauche, who were forced to return home when the river rose, were deprived of education, but now they are able to go to regular school and study, says Sushila Vick, a local. According to him, hundreds of students cross the bridge to go to school from Rauche every day.
Resam Bahadur Khatri, a parent of Rauche, said that after the construction of the steel bridge, children had to be left half way like last year.
