What you should know

The construction of the Belybridge bridge connecting the district hospital in Dolpa has reached its final stage. The construction of the bridge over the Bheri River under the contract of the Physical Infrastructure Office Dolpa under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure of the Karnali State Government has reached its final stage.

Tek Hitan, Head of Physical Infrastructure Office Dolpa, informed Kantipur that the bridge being built at Dunai, the district headquarters of Thuliberi Municipality-3, is being built at a cost of 41.17 million rupees including value added tax. "More than 90 percent of the construction of Beili Bridge has been completed, the only work left is to lay the slabs on both sides of the bridge," he said. After the construction of this bridge, the mentality that it takes years to build a beli bridge has been proved wrong, so he is of the opinion that by constructing a beli bridge in dozens of small rivers under the Bheri Corridor connecting Dolpa, direct traffic can be operated within twelve months. As the construction work of the

bridge has reached its final stage, it is also said that it will be officially inaugurated soon. Dr. Sijan Rawal, Head of Health Services Office Dolpa, said that the district hospital, which was inaccessible due to the lack of a bridge, will now be easily accessible by traffic even if the road reaches the district headquarters.

"Because there is no bridge, the patients who come to the district hospital for treatment have been facing many problems. They are brought to the market by jeep or ambulance, then they have to be carried to the hospital for about half an hour," he said.

'Because the road leading from the market to the hospital is narrow, it is difficult to carry the patient on a stretcher, meanwhile there are many examples of patients who have given birth on the way without reaching the hospital, and patients with complicated conditions have died.
