Fines will be imposed on those who keep agricultural land barren in Karnali province. The state government has made such a provision in the Economic Act, 2082.

According to the Act, those who keep the land barren up to 10 plants will be fined 500, those who keep 10 to 20 plants barren will be fined 1,000 and those who keep more than 20 plants barren will be fined 1,500. This Act has been published in the State Gazette.

Subsidies and concessions have also been arranged for farmers on barren land. The state government has also provided loan facilities.

It has been arranged that the state government will pay the entire interest on the loans of those who cultivate more than five hectares of land.

The provision of 7 to 10 percent interest subsidy has been made in the Act to those who cultivate less than five hectares.
