Karnali highway Surkhet-Jumla road has been blocked again due to landslides. The road was blocked after a landslide occurred in the Gange River under the Kalikot section due to incessant rain since Tuesday afternoon.

District Police Chief Tek Bahadur Rawat informed that the landslide that occurred on Monday evening was resumed at 9 am by Road Division Office Jumla on Tuesday morning using two machines, but it was blocked again after another landslide including Ledo fell at 2 pm.

He said, 'Yesterday evening, the vehicle was moved after the landslide in the morning. But the road has been blocked due to another landslide. According to him, the vehicles coming from Surkhet are stopped at Daikhola and Dailekh, while the cargo vehicles coming from Jumla are stopped at Hulm.

Every year there is a landslide in Gagane river of Karnali highway. Two years ago, Road Division Office Jumla had installed Gavin Jali through a contract worth Rs 3 crore to prevent landslides at the same place. However, the structure was completely washed away by the floods last year.
